About BioSummit Day
Biosummit is a flagship event of the School of Biosciences and Technology with an objective of bridging the gap between the Industries and academic.This is a conscious effort taken by the school to provide opportunities to the students to interact with the industries. As a part of the Institutional Responsibility, the programme is also made open to faculty and students of other universities and institutes. This event is expected to provide opportunities for networking between the industries and the academia. In addition, it has been a practice to recgnize notable alumni of the School.
Owing to the increase in the number of industries and with the objective of involving maximum number of industries, the 11thedition of Biosummit focusses on Food and related large and medium scale industries. Several industries are expected to participate in the event. Apart from the lectures and other technical events, it is also proposed to sign the Memorandum of Understanding with several food industries, to have specific objectives for the collaboration.
Biosummit 2024-The Food Conclave
About 25 food and related industries are expected to par ticipate in the technival sessions and will involve in discussions with the faculty members and the students. The event is also intended to be a part of the World Food Day events(celebrated on 16thOctober) and the 40th Anniversary celebrations of Vellore Institute of Technology. The industries will also highlight the following during the technical sessions and group discussions:
Internship and placement opportunities for students
Possibilities for Start-ups and technologt innovation
Higher education in India and abroad
Collaborative projects leading to product development
Industry sponsored projects and consultancy opportunities
Targetting specific sustainable developmental goals, especially Zero hunger(SDG2) and good health and well-being(SDG3)
Discussion on the World Food Day 2024 theme-Right to food for a better life and a better future
In addition to the main event, several satellite events will be conducyed for the students a day before the event.
